Together we can achieve great things!
By choosing to support Soil Squad, you’re not just donating; you’re becoming part of a community rooted in care, collaboration, and collective action. Every contribution, whether big or small, helps nurture a thriving ecosystem where everyone has a role to play. Together, we create something bigger—enriching the soil, supporting local growth, and building a more sustainable future for all.
We’re excited to invite you into our community of change-makers, united by a deep belief in transforming everyday waste into healthy soils for thriving plants and vibrant humans.
Volunteer with us
Join our growing Community of Composters and turn local food waste into living soil. As a Soil Squad volunteer, you’ll get to process your own food scraps – plus one community bucket – for free at our central St Albans composting hub. You’ll learn how to monitor the health of our hot composter, take temperatures, and be part of a hands-on team learning together about the magic of microbes. In return, you’ll receive a free 30 litres of nutrient-rich, microbe-dense compost each year – perfect for inoculating your garden or allotment and bringing your soil to life.
There are plenty of ways to join in – whether that’s helping maintain the composting hub, supporting us online, fundraising, or sharing a talent that could help our mission grow. You might even consider joining the Soil Squad board? We’re growing from the ground up so we’d love to welcome your talents and hear your thoughts.

Make a donation
A financial donation of any amount will help Soil Squad CIC make a real impact on local sustainability and community well-being.
For example, a £3 donation will help cover the monthly rent for our Composting Hub. £60 will buy enough EM Bran to ferment community food waste for six months. A £1,000 donation will provide two community compost bins to develop rich, nutrient-dense compost and an amazing £6k donation will fund a hot composter for a small village. In every single way, any donation given to Soil Squad counts towards building a greener, thriving future. Thank you for your support!
